Job or Project Estimates
When asked to estimate for a major job such as heating installation, boiler replacement or bathroom upgrades there are always two elements to the job. For materials we will discuss with you your exact requirements and specifications and then provide samples or model numbers and give you a cost for that. We will then estimate our time and provide you with a labour estimate. We call this a Fixed Cost Estimate.
If the job is very complicated or it is difficult to estimate our time element because the property is old or its not possible to see the whole job site without first pulling plaster or boards, we will estimate the materials and give a guideline estimate of the labour element, usually 20% either way. We call this a Time and Materials Estimate.
Wherever possible we will always prefer to provide a Fixed Cost Estimate.
All our estimates and proposals set out our Terms of Payment. We usually ask for the full cost of large item materials up front and then labour is paid in stages against committed stage completion, all set out in our contract.
Written Estimate & Contract
We always provide a written estimate and ask you to sign a contract for all work we do. That way everyone knows what to expect and no surprises!
